Journey of IBM App Connect
IBM WebSphere Message Broker(WMB) --> IBM Integration Bus (IIB) --> IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE)
Version 6,7,8 we call as WMB
Version 9,10 we call as IIB
Version 11 as ACE
Initially IBM has two ESB products called
a. IBM WebSphere Message Broker (WMB)
b. IBM WebSphere ESB (WESB) .
WESB is basic product of ESB and WMB is advance product from IBM .
IBM want to shutdown WESB so they introduced IIB which supports to run WMB and WESB. To run WESB in IIB it has to follow few guidelines. As WESB application can be created with out following SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) standards.
For Hybrid integration and need support to run the Appconnect from On-Premises and OnCloud is done from app connect Enterprise.
Appconnect Enterprise is combination of IIB and Cast Iron.
App connect is implemented on concept of ESB(Enterprise Service Bus) .
Mulesoft -ESB is also implemented on concept of ESB and it is a competitor for App connect
ESB main usage is to integrate the enterprise applications by Exchanging the data between multiple enterprise applications which are developed using different languages and resides on different servers.
****************************************************************************
Appconnect is also know as Middleware or Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) as it plays with Messages between the application and it does not deal with form actions. It uses Hub and spoke architecture not Point to Point.
Hub and Spoke Architecture

Adapters will talk directly interact with application or system for receiving and sending data. Adapters will be Spoke.
Protocols which are supported by IBM App connect for developing the adapters. apart from the below list we have few more
MQ
HTTP
HTTPS
SOAP
JMS
TCP/IP
SMTP
POP3
MQTT
SFTP
FTP
AS2 protocol is not part of IBM Appconnect and this will be part of B2B or B2C. AS2 is File transfer protocol. It will be part of B2B gateway or Sterling Gateway
Features of IBM App connect
Transformation
Routing
Enrichment
Transformation :
It will convert one format to other format like JSON to XML or custom format
to XML, delimiter to JSON
Routing :
It will transfer the data from one system to other system
Enrichment :
The data which we are getting from source can enhance in the app connect.
Components of App connect
MessageFlow
MessageSet / MessageDef or Message Model
Integration Node (Broker in earlier versions)
Integration Server (Exection Group in earlier version)
User Name Server(optional)
App connect toolkit Overview
a. Application Development (top right)
b. MessageFlow Editor (top left)
c. Properties window (bottom left)
d. Integration Nodes Domain (bottom right)

Java
DFDL Test
We can have plugin to integrate with Version control tool like TFS, Helix Core
Project Types which we have in ACE
Integration Project --> This is present from Version 6
Application Project --> This is present from Version 8
Integration service --> This is present from Version 9
Integration Project --> More Re-usable can be found
Application Project --> Isolation of the resource
Integration Service --> It is completely WSDL based service which as SOAP
REST API --> REST API is based on REST arichecture
Transformation languages used in App connect enterprise
Compute ESQL (Extended Structure Query Language)
Java
XSLT
Dotnet
Mapper node
Compute , Java, Mapper and DotNet are capable of doing Relation database interaction
XLST is used for XML transformation only where we will use XSLT or XSD .
XLST is not capable of interacting with Relation database.
Choose the mapping in this order basing on the scenario
1. Compute
2. Java / Dot net
3. Mapper Node
********************************************************************************

Formats which are delta in Appconnect can be categorized as
a. KeyValue (XML, JSON)
b. Delimited (CSV, Flat,tagged delimiter)
KeyValue:
Modeling is optional
Delimited format:
Modeling is required.
The Parser will convert Bit stream data to broker understandable format with help of Modeling.
message set & message definition --> This modeling is available from V6
message model --> This modeling is available from v8 and this is the latest
Parser which we need to be using for Delimited text
For MRM parser we use the model as Message set & Mesage definition
For DFDL parser we use the model as Message model
********************************************************************************
O.S Process of Appconnect
We will have the Appconnect process named as "DataFlow Engine" in OS level in that process we will have our message flow as a thread.
Other process which we need to be looking are
bipbroker
bipMasterService
bipMQTT
bipservice
Windows from TaskManager
Linux
ps -eaf | grep DataFlow
ps -eaf | grep bip
The message will flow only from source to target and if we want to send from target to source then we need to develop a new message flow.
*****************************************************************************
Until Version 9 we are not allowed to read MQ from different system. From Version 10 we are allowed to read MQ which is not registered with IIB or ACE.
Every Node has terminal .
In Domain we can have multiple Integration Nodes .
We can have multiple Integration servers under Integration Nodes.
Under Integration Server we can have multiple applications deployed.
Domain is a server with IIB or appconnect installed.
We can link remote node as well in ACE Toolkit.
Debugging
Add breakpoint
a. Select the flow by using Ctrl+ A
b. Right click and select Add Breakpoint
c. Default location of Integration node(MyNode) and Integration server(MynodeOwnedServer) is mentioned below. In the location edit server.conf.yaml to uncomment the property jvmDebugPort and provide a port like 7777
Windows
C:\ProgramData\IBM\MQSI\components\MyNode\servers\MyNodeOwnedServer
Unix
/var/mqsi/components/MyNode/servers/MyNodeOwnedServer
d. In IDE have the Debug configured like below
If we have debug point in esql code and during debug we can select step into Source so that it will go into esql code.
********************************************************************************
When an Exception raises and handled in catch then it will not go to failure.
If the node is not configured proerly then failure path will be choosed.
***************************************************************************
FileInput and FileOtput
While processing FileInput the AppConnect will create below directories in Input directory which we have mentioned in Inputnode
mqsiarchive --> The processed file will be either placed here with datetimestamp or deleted
basing on the option selected in the File input node at "Action on successful
processing"

ESB vs ETL (verify this basing on you experience)
ETL will be used for heavy load when compared to ESB
ESB will have universal protocol connectivity when compared to ETL

Input Message Parsing
For all Input nodes will have Input Message Parsing tab.
Input Message Parsing will have an option Message domain.
Message domain consist of list of predefined parser. The list of parser are
DFDL
XMLNSC
JSON
BLOB
MIME
MRM
JMSMap
JMSStream
XMLNS
Parser are used to convert Bitstream data into Broker(Integration node) understandable format.
Broker (Integration node) understandable format is logical tree.
Logical tree consists of four trees
a. Message
b. LocalEnvironment
c. Environment
d. Exception
The Logicla tree consists of more than four trees
Message Tree
Last node/folder/child will have the data / Payload which we are passing and for XML we will see XMLNSC
On top of last node/folder/child will have header formation(Properties or MQMD). The header information is protocol dependent.

FileInput and FileOtput
While processing FileInput the AppConnect will create below directories in Input directory which we have mentioned in Inputnode
mqsitransitin --> To avoid deadlocks the file will be first copied to this directory
mqsibackout --> If the process is failed then the file will be present in this directorymqsiarchive --> The processed file will be either placed here with datetimestamp or deleted
basing on the option selected in the File input node at "Action on successful
processing"
While processing FileOutput the AppConnect will create below directories in Output directory which we have mentioned in Outputnode
mqsitransitin --> To avoid deadlocks the file will be first copied to this directory and once the complete data is fetched then it will be placed in the destination directory
mqsifailure --> If the process is failed then the file will be present in this directory basing on
option selected in "Action on final file transfer failure"
log4j plugin can be installed in App connect
Trace Node :
To trace or track or log the transactions we use trace
Three tpes o Trace we have
File trace : We can switchon and switch off on the fly
User trace : We can
Local Error log : this will be stored in O.S level log. In windows it will be writting to eventlog viewer
**********************************************************************************
Compute
a. Compute node will generate one eqsl file.
b. By default esql file contains one module
c. In esql file we can have multiple modules
d. Each compute node can execute only one module.
The entry point for module is main() function
comment in esql is done using "--"
ESQL module option will allow us to map the mdule which we want use for the compte node
Compute mode option will allow us to compute the respecetive logical tree (Mesage or Message and localEnvironment or Exception and Message or localEnvironment or Exception or ALL or etc)
Default procedure which are created in esql module are following
copyMessageHeaders --> To copy MessageHeader
copyEntireMessage --> to Copy entire Message
Three types of variables we have in esql
Local or normal variable
Shared variable
UDP(User Defined Property) or External variable
Local or normal variable
The scope of local variable is with in node of the Message Flow. i.e.e in between the Begin and END of function or procedure
Declare <<variable_name>> <data_type>> <<value>>
Eg :
Declare I integer 1;
Declare J integer;
Declare name character;
Shared Variable:
The scope of Shared variable is through out integration server. If we restart the Integration server then we will loose the data or when we redeploy the application the data will be lost
UDP(User Defined Property) or External variable
Scope of External variable is through out MessageFlow
Datatypes of esql
Boolean
DateTime
Null
Numeric
Reference
Character
DateTime

Functions
Cardinality --> It takes array and returns the number of items in it
Keywords of esql
OutptRoot
To have xml data in OutputRoot then use OutputRoot.XMLNSC.Data and add accordingly
To have JSON data in OutputRoot then use OutputRoot.JSON.Data and add accordingly
InputRoot
This is referenced to Message tree
To read XML data use InputRoot.XMLNSC
To read JSON data use InputRoot.JSON
SET --> To set the value for the variable
ROOT --> Nodes wich doesnot support outputroot then we can use only root
LocalEnvironment
Environment
ExceptionList
**********************************************************************************
We have Two types of Listener
a. Brokerlevellistener (Node Level)
b. EmbeddedLsintener (Integration Server Level)
b. EmbeddedLsintener (Integration Server Level)
***********************************************************************************
Commands
To know the Nodes we can use the below command
mqsilist
To know the Integration server in Node use the below command
mqsilist <<nodeName>>
mqsireportproperties <<Nodename>> -e <<IntegrationServer>> -o <connectorname>> -r
mqsireportproperties MyNode -e MIntegrationserver -o HTTPConnector -r
To list the reportableentity/connectors use the below command
mqsireportproperties MyNode -e MyNodeOwnedServer -o AllReportableEntityNames -r
mqsireportproperties MyNode -e MyNodeOwnedServer -o ExectionGroup -r
