Laptop or PC purchase

1. SDD vs HDD click here  SDD is good to have but cost more so plan to have SDD + HDD . SDD as primary and HDD as secondary
2. intel optane memory this is not RAM nor Hard disk this will act as an intermediate memory for caching the files used frequently.
3.

How to know bus speed
how to cache size

ECC RAM vs Non ECC RAM

ECC (Error Correcting Code) RAM is also called as "parity" memory which is used on Server machines. It will have a chip count divisible by 3 or 5. Due to the ECC feature, the system performance will be reduced by 2%.

Non ECC RAM is used in desktop and laptop and when ECC and Non ECC are combined then ECC RAM will lose its capabilities.

NIC Hub, Switch , Router Modem DMZ VLAN,

NIC  (Network Interface Cards): to connect to the Hub, switch on the network

Hub: It is used to transfer packets to all systems which are connected to it.

Switch: It transfer packets to the specific system which is connected to it.

Router: If we want to send data to a different network.

Modem: To transmit the data over the internet.

VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network)

NAS, SAN RAID

NAS (Network Attached Storage) explained in youtube. Snyology is NAS which can be used for home.

SAN (Storage Area Network) explained in youtube

RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks): To prevent data loss we use RAID. In RAID setup the data is copied to multiple disks.

We have four types of RAID
 RAID 0
 RAID 1
 RAID 5
 RAID 10

RAID 0: Is not fault-tolerant and the data is striped across multiple disks. This is used to access data fast manner

RAID 1: Is fault tolerant. Data is copied to more than 1 disk.

RAID 5: Requires 3 or more disks.

RAID 10: Combines RAID 1 and RAID 0 together. We need four disk

Type 1 Hypervisor: This will be installed on bare metal hardware just like an OS.
Example Vmware vSphere ESXi
